Such a fantastic book. It was my first by this author, and I loved every second of it. This was such a book filled with suspense, romance, love, angst, and sexy times. The setting, and the dialogue were on point. I can't wait to read more from this author. Told in dual pov.

descriptionI enjoyed this one more than I thought I would. I found it to be very well written. The pace was OK. The first half of this book was S-L-O-W for me. Part of the reason for that was my irritation with the hero and his indecisiveness. That said, the plot was still very engaging and kept me turning the pages and the second half kicked up the pace quite a bit. There was a nice bit of suspense that came into play in the second half as well and that added an extra layer of intrigue to the story. There was also an incident that made me cry (OMG did I cry), and I'll be honest I am still not sure how I feel about it. I get the purpose it served, but I would have rather it hadn't had happened. I wouldn't say this was overly angsty and there was no OM drama. There was some OW drama, but it didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. This was a bit of a slow burn with the first sex scenes coming in at 50%. When we do get some action, the scenes were suitably hot. There was a good cast of secondary characters. I loved Singer's BFF, and I ADORED Aaron, Lars, and Frank. They all need to get books of their own.

The main characters were OK. I can't say I liked this hero very much for the first half of the book. He came across flighty, wishy-washy and easily distracted. He waxes poetically about how much he wants Singer and the connection he feels for her at a party, but then he let another woman pull him away from her and then goes on to date said OW. And it's not like she disappeared into thin air. It's mentioned they saw each other several times over the course of the year because they run in the same circles. When they meet up again a year later he is so hot and cold and back and forth. It drove me nuts. I wanted him to grow a f-ing pair of balls and man up. We are also never given a legit reason to why he just walked away from the connection in the first place. All he really says is "the bubble popped and the moment had passed." Seriously dude?? I think had the author used a lighter hand with his feelings for Singer when he meets her at the beginning I would have had an easier time understanding how he turned and walked away. I will say though that once he got his head out of his ass (around 50%) he became a fantastic hero I adored quite a bit. Singer I loved right from the start. She was honest and open. Was a great friend and wore her heart on her sleeve. The first half of this book I wanted her to stop letting Ethan jerk her around with his hot and cold act. But that is about the only negative thing I can say about her. She was a great heroine. Last, this was all wrapped up in a sweet ending that brought things full circle and left me with a smile on my face.

So yea, I was a little nervous going into this one after reading a couple of reviews, but I ended up enjoying it a lot. I think the first half of the book could have been condensed a little (it was quite a long book) and that would have helped it pace-wise, but yours truly is giving this one a solid two thumbs up and I look forward to reading more by this author.description

Second time is a charm.

This was a great read. I loved all the characters in this book.

Ethan was a character that will capture your heart. He didn’t play around and didn’t hold his secret until the very end of the book. He was pretty upfront with Singer from the start. He wanted to start off slow- for good reasons. He told her why and they worked through it.

Singer was a character that you couldn’t help but love. She held her own and was pure of heart. She accepted Ethan’s secret and made a vow to see it through. She didn’t hide her feelings or bend at anyone’s will. That’s what I appreciate the most about Singer. She was her own person and didn’t let Ethan overshadow her.

The story was good and no unnecessary drama. This is a second chance romance and while Ethan missed his first chance to be with Singer he made up for it the second time. Some people complain as to why or how Ethan can let someone else take him from Singer the first time, but Ethan said why. It was easy and what he was used to. He knew dating Singer then would probably be too much for him. I believe Ethan needed to go through the bad so he can appreciate the pure and good in Singer.

My only complaint is that this book is a stand-alone. I wanted more and I really do hope we get it.

Such an unexpected read! While I didn’t expect a RomCom, I didn’t expect the turn in to a truly serious, deeply emotional story.

I absolutely love that, while there were plenty of opportunities for it to do so, the story never relied on misunderstandings and assumptions for angst.
The characters are mature, and have great depth.

Wow! This was a great story. I loved this 2nd chance at love story. The emotions of these characters felt so real. The secondary characters Mel, Frank, Aaron, and Lars were also so very real. I wanted to know more about them too. I didn’t want this story to end.

You will not regret reading any of this authors work!

Oh my do I love Everest! This book was so enjoyable!

Everest drove me crazy in the beginning. He was indecisive and I wanted to smack some sense into him. I ended up absolutely loving him. I absolutely loved Singer from the very beginning! I wish I could be her friend in real life! She has such a huge heart, it was hard not to love her immediately and cheer for her to find the right guy. I really enjoyed their slow burn love story.

I love when suspense is added to a romance story. This one surprised the heck out of me. When it popped up in the book I had no idea it was coming at that time. I knew there would be some suspense but didn’t know when it would happen and was so pleased with the way Scott wrote it into this story!

My only complaint is that I wish the pace had been a little bit faster. The first part of the book was a little slow for my preference. That’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy it. It still kept my attention and was engaging. However, the second half was kicked up to a much faster pace and I couldn’t stop turning the pages.

P.S. Any mention of baseball in a book, when it’s done right, and I immediately enjoy it more!

Grateful to have received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

I loved Everest by S.L. Scott. It was a second chance romance of sorts with compelling characters and a story that drew me in from the outset.

This is a very well written love story about two people who are drawn to each other, but circumstances stand in their way of true happiness. Ethan is one of the good guys, a romantic at heart that will protect what is his. Singer is a woman who loves with her whole being, putting others in front of her own needs, never realising her own beauty and goodness. She wears her heart on her sleeve.

I loved this book. It is an emotional story filled with love, angst, drama, suspense, friendship and laughter. I can’t get enough of S.L. Scott’s books and can’t wait to read what comes next from her.

Ethan and Singer story is one that you love and never expect all the heartbreak you will feel throughout the pages. It's a romance HEA but to get there they have to face very difficult situations. The audiobook is amazing and I totally recommend it.
