Great prequel to the series! I loved, when Shay said that after several hours of reading about Katniss Everdeen's problems, he decided, that he had a pretty cool life :-)

A great prequel telling Shay's story right up until he meets Calla in the begining of "Nightshade".

Addictive, I couldn't put it down if not to take a breath. This woman is amazing, her hand is magical and her stories are like a drug. She fully transported me to Vale and the eerie Rowan State along with Shay. I may be re-reading the entire series the next year due to this novella. I loved it, loved it and loved it more.

This story ends right where Nightshade takes off so, to me, the story is way more complete now - its sort of an extended opening to Nightshade from Shays perspective. It was really interesting too, there was heaps of mythology that i hope are explored in wolfsbane and bloodrose. I later found out that a facebook page was actually set up so in a way this book was interactive which is a different type of promotional idea and very very cool - i wish i'd known about it back then!

I love this glimpse into Shay's life and what lead him to that fateful day with the bear and the white wolf.

The house just sounds crazy. I'm only about 100 pages into the first book, but this was great to get a different perspective on Shay. So far, Calla doesn't know any of this about Shay....but now I do!

love this pre-novella

I really liked this story. It helped me understand Shay a bit more, though I still like Ren better, I really liked reading from Shay's PoV. This was a great story.:)

this is a good novella to start the series and I'm glad I read this first.

this gives us a bit of background as to who Shay is. Where he's come from, why he's been moved to the Vail area and just fills in some small questions that arise in the first book.

lots of hints as to what some of the things Shay sees, hears and reads that make sense when reading book one.

not too heavy, well written, and I think makes you look at the character of Shay differently than had you read Nightshade first without this, so recommended to read first!

I really love Shay as character. This book was very well written and I did really enjoyed it. First I read Nightschade 1, 2 and 3. I really hate #3, the end was horrible. But this story ( #0.5 ) was very very good.
