I love this book, it’s incredibly heartfelt and heart warming, nothing about it disappointed for even a second. The joy i got from reading this was amazing. Definitely give it a read, i picked it out by accident and bought it because of its gorgeous cover despite it’s incredibly high price but i dont regret it one bit

This read quite easily and unfortunately I feel like I may have breezed through it a little too quickly- there were some moments where I had to backtrack a few pages because suddenly an event had happened and I'd somehow missed how we got there (downsides of starting it before bed I suppose).

I really appreciate not having explanatory commas for common words that firmly place it in a Malaysian context (except for an Occidental dress lol). Definitely felt like a short arc within a season of something, a quick jaunt into an intriguing world without laying too thick into worldbuilding because we don't have time in a novella!

I may come back to this book…I really wanted to like it. But there’s neither a strong POV or a well done omniscient narrator. It seems to flit between both with a vague murkiness that means I’m not getting invested into any of the characters. Tet Sang is probably only one I’m curious about, but even he cannot save the book for me right now.
