The Codex Alera strikes again - plenty of action and intrigue - less focus on what it takes to summon the furies and more on using them - the first book, though great, had more explanation at how the things worked, but now, it just moves forward, adding a new races, and a new enemy, and flipping the script a bit from the first book making allies out of enemies, and learning more about the world - I love this series and I am ready for book three!!!

I really enjoy the series so far ... but not the same as harry Dresden , but same as Dresden Files .. the series is very character driven

I love this author and this series has won my heart. Tavi the young lad is in the academy and is being bullied and thinks he is less than others because of his weakness in certain areas. Tavi, has a good group of friends and some amazing facility members surrounding him.* He really reminds me of another young magical student HP. Tavi, has to grow up in this book and his family has to try to survive the coming of the deadly ancient Vord. Action plus packed with non ending fun and excitement. I cheered, cried and laughed all through the book and can't wait for more.
