One of the reasons I really like this series, besides it being written by a favorite author Susan Wittig Albert, is learning as I read. It's life in the South during the Depression. It's a history lesson as much as it is a story told. There isn't one main character, it's the whole town full of characters. The Dahlias are the center but the group is made up of several ladies, so the story is told via them and each interacts with each other. There's a jigsaw puzzle competition, a new bakery endeavor, a suspicious death, moonshine, romance.
It gently moves along, everyone has a voice, the reader learns about poinsettias and how to care for them. Some recipes in the back make me glad the book is on my Nook so I can go back and try them.
I can definitely recommend this book, series and author.

This is one of my favourite series: i love the mix of historical facts, the setting and the great cast of characters.
This was a great instalment as usual: full of humour and tenderness.
I think it's more historical fiction than mystery but it was great to be again in Darling and meet again the characters.
The historical setting is well researched and it gives a good picture of the everyday life of a small Southern town in the 30s
The mystery was engaging and entertaining but i think it requires to have read the previous instalment for fully understand it.
I look forward to reading the next instalment.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher, Ms Wittig Albert and Netgalley for this ARC

The story is set in Darling, a small town where I found really nice and interesting characters. The plot is easy but intriguing. Thank you Netgalley for this cozy read.
