I had a really difficult time choosing a rating for this book. I thought it was going to be 5 stars until the ending, then spent awhile debating between 2-4 stars. I ultimately gave 4 because it was engaging and well-written, but the conclusion dragged on too long and ultimately left a ton of plot holes. I feel like I could really love a book by this author that wrapped up in a way that made sense.
There are many flashback chapters from the perspective of a variety of characters, and I found the actual facts of the case hard to keep straight with all the different versions. A few characters got sort of forgotten about for large chunks of time until they're needed for the plot again. I thought it was very obvious who the killer was too. When all was revealed, there were multiple details that didn't make any sense at all, which was very frustrating since I expected all the puzzle pieces to fall together.
I was also bothered by the complete and total lack of reference to Kat's life in-between the murder and the present. We know she opened a bread company. That's it - no mention of friends, life experiences, boyfriends, etc. It just felt unnatural that we get almost the whole book from her perspective and she never thinks about her life outside of Liberty, or her life before the murder.

Really good book, couldn't put it down. Always something happening.

The book is well written, I read it quickly. But entirely too predictable. I had the culprit pegged by the second chapter. But I kept reading because the writing was good, and to see if I was wrong. A free twists i didn’t see. But most of it was predictable.

[Note: I received an ARC of this book from the publisher]

When I started this book, I have to admit that I wasn't sure I was going to like it. Keeping the characters straight was a problem (keeping Sara and Kat straight was a big issue-- I had to keep looking at the title for a friendly reminder) and the style of jumping back and forth in time wasn't my favorite. However, the book quickly became a story I didn't want to put down. And I suspected the killer of Sara quite early in the story so it was fun to see all the pieces come together. The author is a great storyteller, going into heart-wrenching detail at key opportunities and skipping over the boring details when needed. I am quite interested in reading some of the other books she has written and hope that they also have the perfect blend of mystery/thriller with a touch of slight romance as this book.

I would highly recommend this book to friends looking for sharp writing that isn't full of fluff.

Thriller/Suspense/Mystero authors love me because I'm not smart enough to figure out who the killer is until it's revealed.

This was really good. I was clueless about everything. The damn cat could have done it for all I knew.
(There isn't a cat...)

Would have been better without the inappropriate cop/victim boring romance.

I really liked all the twists and turns in this book, but it did mean that there wasn’t time for side characters.

I liked seeing how Kat tried to solve her sister’s murder, because let’s be honest, Luke didn’t find out anything. Sure, he tried interrogating people, but the information always came from Kat. I liked how you got to see the scenes where she talked to different people and connected the dots together.

For a while I did suspect the person who did it, but then as the book went on I kind of forgot about it. However, I did not guess who Kat’s fan was and definitely not their actual intent.

I liked this book and couldn’t wait to see what would be revealed next, even though it wasn’t entirely for me.

4.5 stars.

An interesting mysyery about a woman trying to find out who killed her sister ten years earlier. I enjoyed the characters and the murder investigation was definitely intriguing. The small town setting made for a bit of a claustrophobic read. An excellent plot twist disproved my theory about the killer's identity.

Yeah this was alright. Wasn’t expecting much from it but I enjoyed the moral ambiguity of a lot of the characters and I liked how the resolution wasn’t necessarily “tidy”.
