Great book

A wonderful story about love, loss, friendship, and finding out who you really are. I would recommend this book to everyone who likes to read about finding yourself.

I didn't dislike this book completely, but it certainly isn't one I'd recommend or read again, it was just okay. I had a few issues with things that just bugged me too much to let slide.

1) Toward the beginning of the book Kyra makes a comment that either she doesn't swear or very rarely does, yet throughout the rest of the book she has quite the potty mouth.

2) Kyra and Stevie become best friends after a week or two of living across the street from each other. They barely know each other.

3) Kyra claims to be a vegetarian on multiple occasions, yet eats meat here and there. Either you are or you aren't, there is no middle.

4) Okay, this isn't against the writing, just my personal preference. I do not like facial piercings and could never find them attractive, so Hale never appealed to me one bit.

Ugh. The targeted audience for this book must be for 16 year old girls, except there's also swearing and inappropriate content. Very predictable and bad writing. I wouldn't have finished it except it was for a GR challenge.

Meg Collett is quickly becoming one of the authors that I don't care what she writes I'm going to read it, even though it's not a genre I usually read. She has a way of pulling you in to the story that makes you feel like you are there.

Kyra Aberdeen has some dark shit in her past but she plasters a smile on her face and tries to fake it through her life. At first I thought that was strong of her until I started noticing she did not seem to be dealing with her true feelings well. Loved that Hale called her out and their relationship was entertaining to read. It was so hot and cold with them and the verbal exchange at times was so funny I found myself laughing out loud. For those who enjoy the steamy parts they were VERY HOT.

I liked Hale he was just a grumpy, misunderstood, call it like I see it man. But, he was sweet and stuck up for those who needed it and was there for Kyra throughout the book.

Cade was charming and I like to read more about the guy.

And Stevie the best friend Kyra makes when she moves to the Island. Stevie has her own demons but she was there for Kyra and Kyra was there for her. Loved Stevie even with her issues. She put Kyra through some shit towards the middle but Kyra was there for her and towards the end Stevie was there for her even though she put Stevie through some heartbreaking shit.

This book was very hard to put down. Lucky for me is I read it on a Saturday so I didn't have to put it down but for a few minutes here and there. It was a wonderful read and the author makes you feel the emotions as you take the roller coaster ride of them through the book. This book was heartbreakingly wonderful and at the end made you happy.

****4 REAL STARS****

Kyra Aberdeen is a Youtube sensation, she has millions of views on her videos each week, but they don't see the real girl. They see a faker. Kyra has perfected being a faker. She fakes her happiness, her smile and her life to everyone around her, family, friends and youtube watchers. Nobody know what she is going through. Nobody knows the darkness that threatens to bring her under some days.
Kyra buys her mother's childhood home, thinking it will help her confront the darkness inside of her.
But then there is Hale, her contractor. He sees right through Kyra's fake act from the start. She doesn't like that, no one has ever confronted her about being fake until Hale. And Kyra doesn't like it. Hale doesn't make her new life easy. But she gets drawn to him for some unknown reason.

I really enjoyed this book. It was different then your normal romance book. I liked the fact that one of the characters had depression because it gives an insight as to what it can be like to suffer with depression. The girl was broken and the man had his own past troubles. I liked Kyra, she has her problems, but is going strong trying to get through them. I also loved Hale, a sexy grumpy man! ;)
This book was an emotional read for me. There was this one part and I'm not going to say what happened but I was crying and I really wanted everything to be OK.
I cried happy tears at the ending. I was so happy that these characters got what they deserved.

This is a book about a girl who is depressed and is trying to serve the darkness that is waiting to consume her. She finds light in another person and then finds love.
