Masterful! It felt like I was having a conversation with a brilliant, funny, incredibly empathetic woman who I could relate to on multiple counts. I am a queer black young woman, and Oluo touched briefly on a lot of topics that are important to me personally. She also went in om the discrimination against Asian Americans and how the big picture really just feeds ultimately and subconsciously into white supremacy.

So much of the messed up racism of today is symptomatic of a deeply rooted issue. This book is a fabulous introduction to the greater conversation, understanding, and ultimate action against racism

I never really new the social effects of Black Lives until I read this book. This book has become incredibly valuable to my knowledge about what is going on. I appreciate the personal experiences and the facts that I have gotten from this read. I highly recommend to anyone that NEEDS to learn about this and to anyone that THINKS they know about this.

I don't typically write reviews, but this book deserves appreciation and praise. Thank you Ijeoma, for taking your time and energy to write about your experiences and to explain how we can all improve.
Everyone should read this book.

Loved, loved, loved it!

What an interesting collection of essays!!! It goes over race, policy brutality, Cultural appropriation and so many other things over the reality of life for people of colour.
Also the part about the privilege you are unaware of was so eye-opening.

A must read!

I listened to it on audiobook also, which was wonderful. Totally recommended!
