“I set off, off to kill the man I love.”

4.25 ⭐

Honestly I don't know how to feel about the ending, I mean I'm glad that Rose has finally put herself first but I just hate how Lissa tried to guilt and tried to use compulsion on Rose and the fact that Lissa didn't even know that Rose was in love Dimitri.

The Full Vampire Academy Series Review Blog Post: Mom-Musings

How can I begin to explain how I feel about this series?
Does it rock? Umm…not really, in my humble opinion.
Yet, I am completely and utterly drawn into the Vampire world that Mead has created. I read Vampire Academy, Frostbite and Shadow Kiss within two days! Yes folks, two days! The books certainly did… captivate me, had me turning the pages as quickly as I could, had me staying up to the wee hours of the night and waking to finish book three.
Why then, if I do not feel the series completely rocks, was I so compulsed to read all three books and want to read book four NOW?

Shadow Kiss...
Okay…now this is the book that I finally said..Wow!
I will say…Shadow Kiss is the book that has finally sucked me into the Vampire Academy series. It felt less high-schoolish and more on the path to adult-hood thinking. Okay…okay…high-school kids can be great, I just do not like reading about those who feel they are “bad assess”, that attitude does not sit well with me….that is what I mean by high-schoolish along with the petty high-school crap. Oh wait! that petty high-school stuff tends to still occur with adults but in the work-world. Ugh.
Anyways… I felt a stronger connection with all the characters plus the storyline was far more intense.
This book took the guardians to a greater level of fighting the Strigoi. The relationship between Rose and Dimitri intensifies. Things become a bit “rocky” between Christian and Liisa. Adrian, well…he plays a larger role and he is by far my favorite secondary character.
Shadow Kiss was intense, suspenseful and had a shocking end.
I am not sure how I feel about the ending. It is not bad but has left my heart torn.

Each book, progressively, took me further and further into the lives of the characters and their world to the point that I was immersed.
I want to know more. I feel for the characters as I was drawn more into their world.
I have reached an understanding of Rose and her actions. She has grown on me.
The story, progressively, has grown and has become very intriguing.

Is this series worth reading?
Yes.
However, if you are like me though and have a hard time reading about “bad” attitude kids…hang on for it truly does get better. The attitude is a helpful thing.

While yes, at times I was very uncomfortable about the age gap between Dimitri and Rose, I still felt as though someone took a dagger to my heart when he became a strigoi. Also, I was legitimately so upset by Rose's parting with Lissa. Rose, I had seen as too temperamental and immature, but most of these incidents happened in this book because of the bond. Lissa was not being a good friend to Rose when she asked her to stay. Rose was devastated, and Lissa didn't even seem to understand. It's just so sad that while Rose would've sacrificed everything for Lissa, she would not do the same in return.

I do like the story but I feel like I‘m not to invested/I don‘t care enough for the characters. The whole Dimitri-Rose-Relationship is pretty icky like it would have been kinda cute if it weren‘t for the fact that
them having sex is literally a fucking crime
.
But I‘m really excited for where this is going
