I love this author and her writing. It is hard for me to get into a book of short stories but I was able to read nearly all of them - some are hauntingly beautiful, while others are flat out creepy. All are wondrefully written.

The last one was my favorite. Also the longest. I feel like there is a correlation there, somewhere.

I have loved every single word I’ve ever read written by Kelly Barnhill. This is absolutely no exception.

This whole book was lovely, but it’s worth the read for the novella, The Unlicensed Magician, alone. The Unlicensed Magician was, well... magical.

Pretty interesting collection of short stories. I listened to it as an audiobook book and think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read them myself.

2.75? I don’t know. I love Kelly barnhill but some of the speculative fiction is just a LOT. I think there was maybe one short story in all of this I enjoyed, along with the longer novella at the end. The prose is beautiful but my brain hurts.

I loved The Girl who Drank the Moon, and I love good short stories, so this collection was a no-brainer for me. That said, my favorite by far was "The Unlicensed Magician" but all of the stories made me think and made me feel. Not one for my elementary library, but definitely an enjoyable read.

Some pretty good stories and a lot of great prose but it gets a little too esoteric for my tastes. The last story which takes up about half the book is probably the most straightforward and maybe the best.
