"Nay!" answered the child: "but these are the wounds of love."

This line always breaks, mends, and fills my heart.

I wanted to read this just because I read Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson. Her description in her book about how this story touched her as a child captivated me to go and read this. I don't recall ever hearing about this book when I was a child. However, it was rather beautiful. The ending depicting Jesus was breathtaking. Loved it.
