Rest of Shigaraki's origin and re-destro plot ending with Hawk's warning.

As clearly shown from Shiggy taking up this cover and spine, this volume is his. We're finally given some clarity about his past and what led him to this point. It's as gruesome as you'd expect and genuinely heart wrenching. All for one claims that the reason he itches is he has an overwhelming need to destroy and it seeps out of him,
Spoilerhence why he felt such a rush of calm after he murdered his father, the only member of his family he actually intended to kill
and it only relinquishes its hold when he gives in to his desires. I don't know if this is 100% true as he still constantly itches and still dusts people on the reg, so unsure, but it definitely seems to fill him with some calm. Similarly we learn All for One is the only one who took Shiggy in, when he was straight up a child like 5/6, and so many others ignored a clearly lost, terrified child. To their credit he was covered in blood and looks horrifying, but it's again so sad to wonder what could've happened if someone else with a quirk canceling power found him first, someone who actually was a good person, what could've happened. The damage may have been too far gone, but still. Also All For One gave Shiggy his trademark hands as reminders of his first kills
Spoilerhis family and the men who bullied him
and they fill him with this sense of disgust and sickness, but also peace. Super strange, but since he's repressed his memories from trauma all this time it's a way for him to control himself. It's really interesting, also ngl it's a terrifying yet BA trademark look. We also learn All For One rebrands him was Tomura Shigaraki, Tomura is to mourn and Shigaraki is All For One's surname, basically giving Shiggy the sense of family he lost and completely letting go of his past as Tenko Shimura. I find it so cool that in his battle with Redestro he must fully remember and come to terms with all of who he is as a person to unlock his full potential and powers, in turn destroying most of his decorative hands knowing he no longer needs them, and his decay is able to spread and is far stronger than ever. I do like that one of the hands conveniently makes it out of the wreckage as again, it's a trademark, but it's genuinely just decorative no instead of symbolic or personal. And with all of this Shiggy has really stepped up to be a legit leader. In the past he would've straight up dusted the MLA, but now seeing an opportunity to use them and branch his army even wider using their influence is genius (also thinking back to Compress complaining how they were living off scraps after burning bridges with the Hassaikai). And they've now created the Paranormal Liberation Front, about 100k strong including some heroes, yikes. I'm gonna miss the League of Villains moniker, I think I'll always think of the OG League as such, but they've sure grown. Made all the scarier by that thing at the end saying potentially Shiggy can get All for One's power and take on One For All??? Yikes yikes yikes. Don't get me wrong, I'm compelled as hell, but I'm extremely anxious for my heroes. This looks bleak.

At least we have Hawks on the inside, as shown, but this venture still feels really perilous. He's able to sneak a message to Endeavor that'll hopefully really warn the heroes to get their shit together. I also love that Hawks is smart enough to leave behind feathers to eavesdrop or steal glory from our main trio so the villains underestimate how powerful they are. My man is as clever as he is sexy.
SpoilerOn the upsetting side it really looks like he actually did kill Best Jeanist as he's still missing publicly and we see him delivering a body to Dabi in a duffle, oof. It's not TECHNICALLY proven to be him, but a dead body nonetheless is upsetting, even if Hawks needs to do it to uphold his cover it's still really sad. I really worry about him. Also it was heartbreaking during the xmas scene that Bakugo still hadn't outwardly said his hero name because he was planning to return to Best Jeanist and tell him. That's legit so sad, omg.

Speaking of my main three, Todoroki's invited his bffs to come to Endeavor's agency with him, much to the #1 hero's chagrin lol. I think it'll be very beneficial for all of them and they genuinely could all learn a lot from him. I adore how supportive All Might is of the idea. Side note, Bakugo and Todoroki getting interviewed after their villain fight and all of Bakugo's remarks getting edited out is so fucking funny. And then Mt. Lady trying to teach them all about media training and assuming Todoroki would be good because he's so hot, but she underestimates how literal he is by saying things like 'if you smile you'd be a lady killer for sure' and he's like 'if I smile, I'll kill women!?" Dead, so funny omg. He's so dumb, I love him. It ends on Hawks knowing the future generation of heroes is very likely going to be the one to save them from all of this and it's for the best as they're stronger than the villains could ever imagine. I adore mentions that he'd rather be working the Tokoyami (that big bro relationship just warms my heart so much) and that even knowing so little about them all he can already see their massive potential. Ugh, I adore even in my fear. I think the next volume is my last bit of show content and I'm NGL, I'm scared...

This was an interim between the end of the Deika disaster and the start of the heroes’ fight against the Liberation’s bigger army. I enjoyed the brief respite with the kids celebrating Christmas and the set up for Bakugou, Deku and Todoroki working together. I’m interested to see where this goes!

The finish to Shigaraki's origin story and the start of the combination of the League of Villains and the Metahuman Liberation Army. It's going to be interesting what happens next...especially as the students of U.A. are being sent out on mandatory work studies this time. Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki are all working with Endeavor, the new number one hero after All Might.
