*2.5. Definitely not as good as other poetry books I've read. Felt a little flat and boring and quite prosy. I could only find a couple of good poems in the entire book.

Bought this book for its beautiful cover design. I have always been a sucker for Insta-poetry. However, I felt that Noor Unnahar's poems are wonderfully written. They are very raw and real.

"I carry
the stories
the sadness
the victories
of people before me
i'm both a monument
and a future skyscraper
rising from the same skeleton"
These poems hit too close to home.
They were subtle and direct at the same time; messages were beautifully put. My favorite collection of poems so far in the year.

the reason why this was an easy five star read for me was because it really reminded me of my favorite poet, rupi kaur. what set noor unnahar apart from rupi's poems is it touched less on subjects of r*pe and more on emotional and romantic turmoil, which really resonated with me. there was so many of her poems that i wanted to screenshot, bookmark, and write down because of how beautifully written they were. noor unnahar is a truly underrated writer and i hope to see more of her works in the mere future.
