Damn… I honestly don’t have words.
The ending is so twisted. Despite knowing from the beginning what Norton is convicted of, the shock of reading his confession at the end is jarring.
The research and background story of the Ivu’ivu/U’ivuan people is astounding for its realism. I am in shock at how believable it all was.  Some of the content makes me feel weird saying this, but this definitely going on my list of favorite books.

HARD PASS and super mad at myself for not considering that there may be graphic child rape scenes from this author. Will not be seeking more from her period.

A strange one. Shows the author's ability to craft character and write in a very convincing manner that makes you believe the world and people presented to you.

(German Version below)

Next time someone complains about the ethics standards of a university etc., I will recommend them this book.

The main topic of this book is not immortality or aging. It is research ethics. And what I gathered from reading reviews is that it may resonate more with researchers than with other people.
I feel like the often mentioned moral relativism is not really that strong. The book is quite clear about what is right and what is wrong. Instead, it shows what happens if someone does not know.

‐---------------------
