Written and Illustrated by Bermejo, this stand alone Batman tale draws inspiration from Charles' Dickens' A Christmas Carol. The art is great and really brings the story to life. Bermejo's Batman is sick and "visited" by his dead partner and then he relives his past (influenced by the campy 60's Batman), the present (Dark Knight) and a vision of the future (where his quest clean up Gotham has become all out war). I'd give this book a 3.5 if Goodreads allowed half stars.

A Christmas Carol weaves very well into the Batman universe, but the art is the real reason to read.

An interesting take on Dicken's Christmas Carol.

This is a retelling of the Dickens' Christmas story with Batman center stage as the Scrooge character. I really enjoyed this graphic novel. It was like most all reincarnations of Dickens story but it was much darker - kind of like the most recent Dark Knight Batman movies. Fun read for any Batman lover.

I can't stress enough how much I enjoyed reading this. A juxtaposition of "A Christmas Carol" with Batman seems like a recipe for disaster, but the results are incredible. I won't say which character gets to be Scrooge, because this is a really short story. Lee Bermejo truly shines in this work. I had seen his art in Brian Azzarello's Joker, and it was nothing short from beautiful. However, Bermejo's vision of Christmas in Gotham, which seems to be inspired from overtly realistic art found in traditional illustrations of Dickens' wonderful story. Plus, this is one of the few graphic novels in the Batman Universe that doesn't reject former outings of the Caped Crusader while also managing to have a dark undertone. Bermejo embraces all that is related to Batman and his evolution, so he helps flesh out slightly more a character that seemed to have nothing more to hide under the cowl.

If you love Charles Dickens and you love Batman you should read this.

Lives up to the hype. Very inventive.

Bermejo wraps a tale of the Dark Night in the trappings of a Christmas Carol, to some interesting effect. I thought it was too contrived (especially the appearance by Superman and the resulting plot elements) but the drawings have a beautiful painted quality that I haven't seen a lot in comics.

Batman + Cuento de Navidad. La idea es buena, el resultado no sé si tanto.
