“Time passes. That's the rule. No matter what happens, no matter how much it might feel like everything in your life has been frozen around one particular moment, time marches on.”

The Last Time We Say Goodbye is about Lex whose brother died by suicide and left her with a heart full of grief. Obviously, this was a very emotional read as it focuses on Lex's grief and the impact her brother's suicide has had on her family. Her mother is devastated and her father isn't really in the picture anymore, as he's got a new family now. Lex has troubles dealing with her grief and the complicated feelings towards her brother, so she cuts herself off completely. It's difficult for her to keep in contact with her friends and her (ex) boyfriend, as they don't seem to know how to treat her. This book wasn't perfect, but it felt raw and honest!

oh mY GODDDDDd. this was so sad. i wanted to cry most of the time bc WHAT. and the author's note j made it sadder :( but it was mostly good?? there were times when the actual writing was mid and also it was a tad sanist and ableist but it's pretty good and also rlly thought provoking. there were ways i expected it to go but it didnt go that way which was kind of annoying but i wont hold a grudge bc the way it did go completeLY THREW ME OFF. like 70% of the book is talking about this text which alexis holds guilt for and then i found out what he said and i was like Oh. LIKE IT WAS SO SAD I FELT SO BAD even if she's fictional bc the author isn't and :( IT WAS SO UIHAFOIUSH like if you're not ready to cry don't read this bc u will cry. but it's a good book. it didnt rlly portray therapy correctly (for me personally.) there seemed to be a lot of therapy stereotypes, that the only ppl who go to therapy are 'crazy' as alexis says, but that's not the case and sanist tbh. asides from that it was rlly good, it got the grief process spot on.
