Anthony is given a proposition by his lover, Sophia. She happens to be mob boss, Gorgon Malakhov's mistress. She wants Anthony to kill Malakhov. It will be a risky operation. Although, one that Anthony is willing to undertake if it means he can be with Sophia. Anthony just might lose his life in the process. Many men have tried and failed to take down Malakhov.

Anthony's best friend, Detective Terry O'Donnell is currently in Malakhov's grasp. He wants O'Donnell to steal some priceless art. This is another thing that Anthony is...a good friend. He plans to help O'Donnell get away from Malakhov.

Yet, as if this was not enough; the Russian Mob versus the Italian Mafia. You know there will be blood and a high body count. To quote one of the characters, if they made a movie about the Russian Mob versus the Italian Mafia it would be called "The Streets Ran Red with Blood."

This is my first read written by Mr. Giordano. You can call me very impressed. I could not tear myself away from reading this book. There were many characters but it was easy to keep track of who they are were and their connections to one another. Plus, all of the back stabbing kept the story intriguing. So many people where double and triple crossing each other. It was interesting to see who came out on top. A true gangster type feel good read. I want more. Appointment with ISIL is infused with lots of action, complex and intriguing characters, that will keep you on the edge of your seat! A definite recommended read.

"Appointment With ISIL" written by American author Joe Giordano is an excellent, fast paced international contemporary thriller that i thoroughly enjoyed and kept me up well past my bedtime so keen I was to finish it. If you like gritty intriguing thrillers involving the FBI, Russian/Italian mobs or Islamic Terrorists you will absolutely love this book without a doubt.
The author has written a very cleverly plotted book with layer upon layer of interesting connecting storylines that you can see has been professionally researched - with outstanding vivid descriptions and imagery of the many international locations - this is a book not to be overlooked.
The first chapter is both tearful and terrifying - depicting a horrific atrocity that interweaved later in the book seamlessly. The secret dealings and liaisons that occurred between countries and their factions is a frightening realisation that could easily keep you awake at night. Joe Giordano has captured this brilliantly and from the first page i was hooked by the tense thrilling storyline.
The main protagonist 'Anthony Provati' is a great likeable character that I was quite taken with. Not over the top, but brave, intelligent and laid back but with a uncontrollable penchant for women - will his roving eye be a step too far this time?? Written mostly in first person it's good to hear Anthony's feelings and emotions direct and how he decides to deal with the increasing problems first hand.
I can very well see this as a big blockbuster movie, the remarkable characters are all fabulous, the bad guys are true believable baddies and the good guys the heroes. All in all a very entertaining novel that I expect to do very well and be highly popular - I do hope to see Anthony Provati again and would definitely read more in the future by this intelligent and talented author.
