So fun. So good. So much happened but it was still somehow great pacing. Sometimes I just want a fast adventure that hits me with some action, romance, magic, surprises, and somehow in 129 pages this did all that. I will definitely be revisiting this story.

I loved listening to this novella! If you're interested in Supernatural and/or Good Omens, angels and demons, Chicago 1940's noir, with a kick-ass lesbian detective as our main character, you might enjoy this one!

An urban fantasy private eye story set in Chicago in the 30s. The fast paced short story has a jolt of heart when the main character moves through her search. The tone is so well done from an angle rarely told, that I didn’t mind the liberal use of “doll”. Highly recommend this lovely, complete story that is short only in pages/time and not in heart. The audio is well done and I highly recommend taking it in that way.

The world-building is amazing, but I felt it lacked in execution. The ending felt rushed.

On one hand, a captivating, beautifully written and heartfelt mystery in a rich atmosphere and uniquely engaging world building.
On the other hand, why would you hurt me this way.
