After reading my reviews from the preceding books in this series, I realize why I don't have a great push to read these one after another. Although they are good stories in the end, they drag. Either they drag with story set up, relationship set up, or with declarations of affection, when it is so obvious that it is right in front of your face. This book was the later.

So the two characters are both very insecure, both in their own ways. I get the reason for not believing one is lovable by both characters, only I don't believe that either would take it so far as to lose one another. At the beginning of the relationship, yes, after spending a lot of time with one another, no. It was forced and dragged on and on. The story could have easily gone on even with the declaration and still been a good story, even better in fact. What happened instead is that it took from the story, distracted, and in the end, dragged the book in many places.

I liked the book, it was good. Much of the angst could have been left out and it would have made it better and shorter. Filler angst brought this one down a notch. Still it has a hot relationship with a good storyline to go with it.

Probably one of the best in the series so far.

This is a guilty pleasure series for me, as well as for many other readers. I mean, seriously, men with magical penises that cause instant orgasms with little effort, which apparently taste like whipped cream? You wouldn't think, with a premise like that, that the books would stand up at all.

But I loved this entry. I love that Brooks's heroes are competent in all the ways that matter. I liked Tarq's vulnerability, and understood Lucy's insecurities. It was great watching them come to their own. I was rooting for them from the start, and might have sniffed a little when they got their HEA.

Also, I love how Brooks's writing has improved. In the early books, there wasn't much of a way to distinguish her characters. And I recall having thoughts, especially in the second book, along the lines of, "Of course Leo would throw his lot in with Tisana. He'd be an idiot not to. Love has nothing to do with it." So I never quite bought that pairing. But I loved Tarq and Lucy, and Dax and Ava. And, even better, there weren't millions of characters from previous books making appearances and bogging the story down the way they did in Fugitive.

So, bring on the ninth book, Ms. Brooks. I can't wait to see how you end this series!

probably my least favourite in the series, all the self pity and miscommunication was too far-fetched. Plus, it went on, and on, and on...

"3 out of 5 stars! Sweet and adventurous is how I would describe this latest novel from The Cat Star Chronicles series. I love this series because of the Zetithians (males and females) and their unique ways! Therefore, I could not wait to read this novel. The characters were colorful and I'm really interested to see ..."
