📖
I have mixed feelings on this book. This book was better than I expected. I think Maehrer tried to hard to be funny in places. There was some character development and in-development.

Overall, this book kept me interested. I found the plot to be predictable, and the writing style got annoying in places. The worldbuilding was lacking in areas. The characters were fine.

I do plan to read the sequel.

It be easy to say this is enemies to lovers or sunshine/moody or call it a coworker romance but it really isn’t. The romance is there sure but reading this(while I SO wanted to see them together) I also wanted to see how they interacted with everyone else and see how they realize their feelings. It was more like a romcom where the main characters are more afraid of their feelings than they are oblivious. Over the story was great, awesome fantasy elements, cute humor and all and all a solid read. Sometimes it felt like big reveals weren’t explained enough but that is also a bit of a personal preference. I am also now truly a victim of the book as I torturously wait for the sequel in August.

I’m here for morally grey characters who are in a lighthearted comedy.

Was it deep or thought provoking?  No.  But did I enjoy a fun romp? Definitely.

HOWEVER IVE GOT A BONE TO PICK AND THAT BONE IS ENDING BOOKS IN A CLIFFHANGER !!!!

babes, I’m a med student that’s so close to finals I can feel them breathing down my neck WHEN IN THE LIVING HELL I AM WILL I GET TIME TO READ THE SECOND PART??

that said…

Dearest authors,
PLEASE don’t end your book in cliffhangers like this. I ASSURE you that if I like the book I’ll gladly read the whole saga even if it’s a nonsensical mess. PLEASE. IM BEGGING (like trystan lol)

Yours dearly,
Maria.

Edit:

WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE SECOND PART IS OUT AUGUST 8???! Honestly, f-ck every author that writes such cliffhangers. I’m tempted to rate it one star now.

I’ve never read anything like it before, but it’s not my usual genre.

For a romance novel, there is surprisingly little coupling off. But, there is so much internal monologue about being interested in being a couple, that there’s little room for world building. Despite mentions of windows and lamps, it felt like the characters were running around in a black void. They never even explain the magic systems.
