While there were a lot of interesting ideas in this, and interesting characters, for me it turned out to be less than the sum of its parts. After reading I discovered that there had been previous (unrelated) books set in the same universe, which I'm sure go into more detail about its underpinnings, but as my introduction to the world it was a little too slight on the worldbuilding and mythology to come together for me.

I received salvage through goodreads first.

Chris Howard is on his way of becoming a favorite author of mine. I loved this book. Warning this book has what some would consider violent and graffic scenes. Salvage is like nothing I've ever read in its genre. Chris Howard puts an interesting spin on a sea adventure novel. I spent all my free time reading. And once the story gets going it does not stop.  This story has two different things going on at the same time and I caught myself skipping through the the next chapter to see what was happening up ahead to that part of the story. I can't think of anything flaw in this book. I loved it and started recommending it to people 1/4 of the way in. Can't wait to check out the rest of Chris Howards books.
