it was just really mid, i skipped ahead because instead of doing small flashbacks and then getting back to the main point the author decided that the book would be "better" if over half the book was multiple flashbacks in a row. that, for me was a really big reading ick.

It was okay, but I knew from the beginning that it was MJ, but for different reasons. I thought that she did it because she liked Will and wanted to tank their relationship, but either way, who made it was still easy to figure out within the first chunk of the book.

Deepfake is an interesting book that gives readers a look into what a future with AI could be. Right now, AI seems really cool because it can do so many things for humanity. But, it also has the power to be very dangerous. It could really harm a person's reputation as it did in this novel. Will and Dara were both targets of a deepfake video that almost got them into serious legal trouble amidst the college admissions process. I think that the author did a really good job writing about the stress of the college admissions process and the senior year of high school. It really is hard to be at the top of your class because many of those people are also the same people who get imposter syndrome really bad. For some people, academics is like a sport and the race to be valedictorian can be tough to live through in the final year of high school. It was awesome that the characters who were up for it were all still really friendly with each other over amid their competition. The pressure of high school is real and I feel like that was an important discussion in this novel. I really do believe that AI is going to change the name of the game for a lot of things in the coming years. I hope there is some way to regulate it before it gets too out of control to contain.

The idea here might be scary if I actually understood how real it could be. The social aspect and gossip here carries the story. 83

It’s a good story but I didn’t find it to be all that gripping.

there really wasn't any suspence or exciting parts. it also felt like I was being talked down to as if it was written for a much younger audience. I didn't enjoy that lol.
