I will admit that I was unsure about this book. There were so many pointless and not good shorts in the first collection, and I wasn't sure I wanted to spend my short energy reading through the same. But after a bit of research, I learned that this book would focus much more on Thorn and what happens after [b:Host|758546|Host (Rogue Mage, #3)|Faith Hunter|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1266636089l/758546._SY75_.jpg|744657], which is good, as the series seem unfinished.

There were still short stories by other authors that weren't that relevant to the story overall, but they were for the most part interesting, showing how the world has changes after the happenings in the book. And I will admit that I am now really curious about the RPG. Maybe something to look into to have a change of pase, so to speak, as it's been a lot of DnD over the last few years.

Anyway, the stories about Thorn were good, and they did move the story forward in a way I thought we might actually get some answers at the end of the book. Sure, we got some answers, but also more questions. I can only hope we get a wrap up short or something sometimes in the future, as I don't want this to be the end!

Individual reviews for the other shorts:

RIVER BONES-Jean Rabe

Doesn't really have anything to do with the main story, although it had some hints to it.
Despite being a little slow, it was a good one, tho. Well written.

3/5

A START-Spike Y. Jones

Soooo... This story was pointless

1/5

TWO MULES FOR BROTHER HOPE-Christina Stiles

So this could have been good, but there were tpo many characters, events that didn't have anything to do with the over-all story, and so many contradictions.
And it was basically 30 pages of fighting, which isn't that interesting.
Was fun to see a connection to a story from the first collection, though

2/5

OUR LADY OF THE STONES-Spine Y. Jones

An interesting, short, slice-of-life about Thorn's effect on the rest of the world.
The dialogue was rather confusing, though, which pulls it down a star. I had no idea who said what.

3/5

ROLLING STONE-Lucienne Diver

A story set in Ireland, showing how the battle is fought in the rest of the world. It was interesting and well written, even if I spaced out a little during the fighting.
