a bit slow at first and the chapters can get a bit long but picks up at chapter 2 and is incredibly informative. like it built a lot on some things i already knew and gave me other things i didn't already know, like the controversies and dramas with the leakeys and such. and if you picked up this book Without having some sort of anthropological background, johanson explains things superbly and in a way that's easy to understand. which makes his quips, and questions, and aspirations all the better. not to mention, i think the information provided, especially with his personal connection to it, is well-built and well-rounded, to the point where you can see the love of humanity (for past hominids AND his colleagues in particular), even where anthropology may have gained more knowledge since the book was written
