I liked learning about life in North Dakota oil boom towns and thought the use of a 12-year-old with fetal alcohol syndrome as a narrator was interesting. There was some heavy-handed "fracking ain't so bad," stuff and some off-putting racism, but the setting and plot kept me listening.

I read this one because the narrator January Lavoy was recommended to me and she was indeed a great narrator!
The thriller was super efficient, the topic was not something that generally interests me much (drug deals gone bad) but this one was written in a gripping way. I didn't know it was a series and will probably check out the other ones and also other works from the author pretty soon.
