Delightful and beautiful and swoon-worthy, as I knew it would be.

In typical Grace Draven fashion, this novella does not disappoint. My favorite thing about her stories is that relationships develop organically; in this case taking years to come to fruition. And although it didn't happen overnight, I found myself appreciating the characters strengths and virtues, and falling in love with them, myself. For this reason and many others, Grace Draven's storytelling voice is one of my top 3 favorites.

Grace Draven never fails to delight. Unlike the last novella in the Wraith King series, there is little fear or darkness that has found the lands our main characters reside in. Tales of the terrible galla war reach their court, but this story is not about that.

A tender romance blooms between a brilliant swordmaster and the shy, insecure daughter of his employer whose skill with a pen has set her on the path to being a royal archivist. Lovely, slow burn story about two characters I hope will play a role in future books of the main story line. Would love to see more of them.

Jahna lives a lonely existance, bullied by her peers, over a purple birthmark on her face. But when a swordmaster comes to teach her brother, and stays in her father's household, everything changes.

"(...) Another thought occurred to her. “Didn’t you say you had to meet someone?”
His broad shoulders lifted in a shrug. “I did. I have. You.”
Her young heart beat like a swallow’s wings, this time from excitement instead of fear. She looked forward to the next four years. She held out a hand. “Thank you again, Sir Velus. You saved me.”
“Maybe during my stay in your father’s house, I will teach you how to save yourself.”....

Ah, Grace Draven, you magic storyteller, you did it again!

I liked that this novella is set in a kingdom that is frequently mentioned but we don't see much (yet) in this series. Also enjoyed the characters and the relationships between them as well.

I love me some grace draven, and this is favorite short story from her. CHEFS KISS!!

The characters' emotional journey towards each other was so heartwarming, relatable, caring, generous, and beautiful. I love seeing their growth and relationship throughout periods of their lives, seeing the gradual steps from acquaintances to friends to caring loving friends to lovers.

IT! WAS! BEAUTIFUL!!!!! If I could hug these two MCs I would, just a big ole happy hug.
simple, magical, romantic, just makes me feel like a hug in holiday season <33 very re-readable

Loved this short novela. Such a happy little story and I loved how it ties to the Ippos King, which I read first. Now the part where Serovek asks for Jhana makes sense. I

I was a bit worried that the age difference was gonna make it gross like Radimar was grooming her but that was not the case at all. He was very respectful and the slow slow burn made the HEA so satisfying

I have to admit I’m biased because I love all of Grace draven’s writing; I’d read her shopping list if I could.

Lovely short story and I’m always very happy to read something where the author isn’t afraid to spread it over years rather than rushed into a week.
