How could someone not love this book? There are so many amazing authors donating short stories to a good cause. I laughed from the beginning until the end. I have discovered new authors and can't wait to read more of their work. Kudos to these lovely authors.

I don’t usually read anthologies or novellas because I’m never satisfied with short stories, I always want them to be longer. I wanted to read this one though because it meant supporting authors who have been affected by #cockygate and supporting the ongoing fight for authors’ rights to creative expression.
As with most anthologies, there were some stories that I really enjoyed and others that I didn’t care much for and a few that I skipped entirely because the first few paragraphs didn’t pull me in. I’m still counting this as a book read though because this is a big-ass anthology and the stories that I did read I’m sure would make up a regular full-length novel. I’m also giving it 4 stars because even though some of the stories weren’t for me, I appreciate that all of these authors were able to come together so quickly and create content for this collection. The way the romance community has banded together to fight #cockygate is inspiring and makes me so happy to be a romance reader.

I love these short stories! It was great getting the opportunity to revisit some of my favorite characters from some of my favorite books- especially Liam and Natalie (Cockblocked) and Lincoln and Dani (Swag).
To top that off, the money is going to a wonderful cause!

A good reason to be cocky!!
Firstly let me say that I absolutely, 100% support the reason these authors quickly put together this anthology and even if I didn’t know a single author who I contributed I would have bought this collection regardless. But I was lucky enough to know quite a few of the authors and so I’ve chosen to read and review their stories below (and hopefully get around to reading the other contributions at some stage as well).

This story is pure perfection. I’m a die-hard fan of the Harris family and getting to see Indie and Cam’s secret wedding was so so so so good!! It was perfectly them and the little insights we got of the rest of the Harris family made this an absolutely highlight of the anthology. My only criticism (and this will be an recurring theme I’m sure) is that it wasn’t long enough lol

Meghan Quinn has given us a little look into the fighter pilot world in which her upcoming duet is set and I could’ve be more thrilled. This was fabulous and I’m desperately hoping we get to see more of Stryder (because the books will be about Colby who we also met) as I have a feeling he has a very intriguing back story.

And Duh. 5/5 stars not only because there is literally something for all tastes but because the proceeds are going toward a very good cause. If you haven’t heard, this book is a limited release anthology (you can get one up until August 26) with proceeds going toward RWA’s advocacy fund and also toward authors impacted by creative obstruction. It all started when one (very greedy IMO) author attempted to trademark the use of the word “cocky” in book titles. Ridiculous right?! I know. There was obvs an uproar in the writing community. The aforementioned author (whose name I refuse to propagate) even attempted to get a temporary restraining order to keep Cocktales from being released. Check out #cockygate for more details if you’re interested. In short, it’s a great book and you’re supporting creative expression and free speech essentially. So yeah, do your part and grab one!
