WAITING from this is one of my favourite poems ever. The imagery it creates just took me away and made me so emotional

While I'll be the first to talk about how incredibly talented Margaret Atwood is, and how much I admire her forging of language, I must admit I didn't connect with much of her poetry in this collection.
Some poems were too abstract for my taste, some others too naturalistic. All in all, it was an enjoyable read, but not a favorite.

My absolute favorite poems came from the Power Politics (which I have already read and loved), and Morning in the Burned House collections.

This is a beautiful poetry collection. Atwood’s work oozes with rich metaphor and deep personal introspection. The latter chapters focus on more recent work and I found these, with their feminist underpinnings, truly inspirational and moving. I have already bought multiple copies of this work to give to my mother and sister. Reading this alongside Catseye was an incredible experience due to the parallel imagery- it was akin to being witness to the novel’s process in poetry form. I cannot recommend this collection highly enough.
