4-4.5 stars: I really liked this book!!! I wasn't so sure how good it would be because it is a shorter book compared to what I usually read, but so much is packed into the limited pages that it didn't feel as if it needed more. I really liked the unique voice given to Dash and Lily's perspectives. They are both so incredibly witty and smart that it never gets boring reading about them. I am excited to move on to The Twelve Days of Dash and Lily. (I feel like I should also add that I am reading a Christmas book in May - it was that good)

Why does she (fmc) act like a bratty 8 year old?

"All it takes is one dance to know that she's the one. All it takes is the sound of her song from the tower, or a look at her sleeping face. And right away you know - this is the girl in you head, sleeping or dancing or singing in front of you. Yes, girls want their princes, but boys want their princesses just as much."

I'm pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed, and had a fun time reading this. I've been burned in the past by reading co-authored books by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan (I'm looking at youNick and Norah). However, I do have to say that I prefer the Netflix miniseries way more. I find the characters more likable, and less annoying, and their chemistry seems more palpable. Plus something about just feels so magical and full of whimsy.

3.5 star rating. Good but it only started getting interesting 2/3rds of the way through. Bit tedious but the ending was adorable.

This book was fantastic!! It's set during Christmas time and I love Christmas so i fell in love with this after reading the first chapter. I thought the idea was unique and the characters felt real to me. I loved the back and forth from the characters each chapter and watching their story develop & unfold. I really liked finding out each new dare and I had myself thinking "how many relatives does Lily have?" just like Dash was thinking each time he was sent somewhere new and there was another person to give the notebook to. After reading this I really want to read the other novels that David and Rachel wrote together like "Nick & Norah's infinite playlist". I've watched the movie remake of the same book and "Dash & Lily's book of dares" has the same sort of unknowing feeling for the characters, but you as the reader are all knowing. I really recommend this!

There's something I like about this book but there's something I hate about it. Maybe it's cause Lily was written so childish, I couldn't even figure out how old she was supposed to be, 16 or 12? I liked her but my god she seemed like a child.
Also have you read Oyasumi Punpun? A Manga written by Inio Asano? No? Then you might not uderstand what I'm talking about, but Dash and Boomer's relationship seemed so much like Seki and Shimizu's relationship to me. I feel like that was the reason I really like those two characters, but yea I really thought their relationship was cute.
Anyways It's a really cute idea, the journal, I didn't even hear about this book until I read a Fan Fiction and I sadly enjoyed the Fan Fiction more than the book, but I liked the book. Not something I would read again though.

Listen, even though I rated it low I still had a good time. Mainly because I love the Netflix show so much that it heavily influenced my opinion. Lilly was sooooo much more annoying in this and when they mentioned Dashes fedora I almost passed away. With that being said, 14 year old me would’ve ate this tf up.
