It's so hard for me to review this. As anyone who knows me can attest, I'm an enormous BTVS fan, which is why I've always put off reading the comics. I will say that it's awesome that so many of the original writers are involved, because the dialogue is completely on point. That being said, the explosion of plot and time-jumping otherworldliness made for a convoluted story, which made me miss the early days of Buffy.

I was happy to revisit Buffy’s world and get some new (to me) content in the process! Some of these comics, like “No Future For You”, starring Faith & Giles & written by Brian K. Vaughan, were a *delight.* Some, like “Wolves at the Gate”, starring Dracula and his racism (used for comedic effect?!) & written by Drew Goddard, were truly terrible. It’s still racist even if you point it out to scoff at it, if you, as a white man, are using it for your benefit.

Since this comic version of Buffy is considered canon (season 8), I had a lot of reservations about it. I was scared it was going to ruin everything I liked about the TV show, but now that there is a book being released next week in the Buffyverse and they are revamping the comic again and taking the show back to the beginning, I felt like it was time to get this thing done. I enjoyed the story as a whole, but I did find myself getting a bit lost as I read. It was sometimes difficult to keep the story straight. It could be because this omnibus included all the side stories mixed into the actual story therefore taking me out of the main story.
My favorite bits:
Badass women working together
Happy to see Faith again even if it was just for a little bit.
I did miss seeing:Giles as this person was not really in the story.
The characters did keep the essence of themselves when it came to their personality... most of the time anyways.
There was some comedy! I'm a sucker for something funny.
What I had a bit of an issue with:
Again, the story just seemed a bit discombobulated.
They brought back characters from the TV show...that were, well... no way still alive? And yet... they are here in the story?
And finally:what the time travel to the future, Batman!?
Now to find Volume 2 of this omnibus which is proving to be really difficult.

LOVED this collection of Comic books! I mean I haven't even read the other Buffy comics, but because I watched the TV Series then I knew what happened previously.

re-read August 31st 2019
I wanted to re-read it, I have all the same feels about the story that I had on my initial reading, I have since then completely failed at re-watching the TV show though, I should really get on that.

Wow this was sooo good.....I will be rereading this again soonish, just because the art is actually kind of incredible & also because it feels just like watching an episode of the show....which I will also be doing again tbh
