I REALLY enjoyed this book, more than I thought I would be! The beginning was interesting but it was slow. It took me more than 100 pages in to start liking the book so I took half a star off but truly, it was a great read! Can’t wait to continue with the second book!!

That cliffhanger/plot twist at the end, I was not expecting that! I have always felt like David is a bit suspicious and I really don't like him, and if Stevie is having a boyfriend I want it to be Nate, not David. I hope they find Ellie and I can't wait to read the next book.

I took a break from this book about halfway through because I had reached a reading slump. Getting back into it, I finished within a day. I have a few thoughts about this story.

1. Truly Devious seemed to be less about the mystery and more about Stevie and her experience. I did not mind this, but I wish I would’ve known about this before starting the book as it made the story feel slow. We did not learn of the present-day murder until halfway into the story. But the mysteries in the book were very entertaining and thought-provoking!

2. That being said, I appreciated the mental health rep with Stevie’s anxiety and panic attacks. I also loved the friendships in the story, especially with Janelle and Nate! (Nate is the Eeyore I never knew I needed in a story.)

3. I really enjoyed the ending, which solved(?) the present day murder but leaving the Ellingham murder up in the air. The questions that I was left with made me want to start the second book in the series. Recently with series, I’ve realized that I enjoy reading sequels less than the main book, as it just feels like another story in the world or a continuation that was unnecessary. The second book in this series feels like it will be a continuation on this story rather than an extension on the world, and I’m looking forward to reading it!
