Cold Justice #8
Romantic Thriller
I debated on what to rate this because the characters were great and connection was there. The romance part was really good and was thrilling bad guys. But there was so much info dump and tell not show that it didn't keep me engaged the whole time. When I was engaged in the story it went quick and was great.

This book can easily be read as a standalone. The subject matter have current relevance assists in making it even more intriguing.

If you have read any of the other books in the Cold Justice series, you will notice the appearance of some other familiar agents, along with Alex Parker.

Cold Malice was a fast paced, romantic suspense, full of mystery, action, and danger. There was a nice amount of heat as well.

I had a few moments of being frustrated with the inflexibility of Mac. I understand being suspicious and jaded, but to be unwilling to consider any other options didn't sit well. Both Parker and Frazer were willing to consider other options. I guess in Mac's defense both Parker and Frazer had been through the ringer in previous books.

A good read and entertaining audiobook that I would gladly recommend to fans of romantic suspense, mysteries, police procedurals, or contemporary romance.

A masterful example of romantic suspense...

I literally could not put this book down. I didn't check my email or Facebook. This book kept me on the edge of my seat, guessing what was coming (often wrong) and my heart was fully engaged with Mac and Tessa's journey. I love Toni's writing style and her storytelling is unparalleled.

A fast paced romantic suspense that keeps you guessing to the very end. There are lots of twists and turns and the bad guy is hard to spot. This story is gritty and streamy and every bit as good as the previous books in this series.

Cold Malice

A good mix of romance and suspense.

Tess is a very appealing heroine. She has overcome the malice and hardship of her childhood to become a strong, resilient and contributing member of society. The manner in which other characters treated her underscores the prejudices and judgemental attitudes prevalent within law-enforcement.

Mac, on the other hand, is a jerk for most of the book. His preoccupation with his career and willingness to place Tess in harm's way for the sake of a promotion does not portray him in a good light. Thankfully, he does ultimately come to his senses and there is a very good grovel at the end.

The suspense plot is well-written with some truly despicable villains. While most of the plot twists are obvious, the actions scenes are exciting and the climax and resolution are one of the best in the series thus far.

Overall, an entertaining read with a lovely heroine and a satisfying romance.

I'm definitely reading these all out of order, but this one is really interesting as it focuses on cults, and their lasting impact on members who leave them.
