While this was tagged as horror, it’s more philosophical, maybe sci-fi. It was a quick and pleasant read, although I didn’t quite connect with any of the characters. I appreciate short, tight stories but I think this would benefit from more character exploration.

Sooo this was a quick read, and an interesting concept of reincarnation. I definitely wouldn’t classify this as horror, and was expecting more since it was tagged as that genre.
I was left wanting more though, all the characters felt very surface level and the plot could have been fleshed out quite a bit more. The ending felt rushed. Charlotte was pretty unlikeable too. She kept telling herself how smart and clever she was, but none of her actions reflect that at all - she seems like one of the dumbest people alive with the personality of a wet paper towel. She also has no skills whatsoever and is “bored” of everything within 2 minutes.
I think this would have been a more solid story with an additional 10-15 pages of details.

I don't know how endearing and tense go together, but that is how this book made me feel. The writing is funny and clever and my only gripe is that I wish it were longer.
