Omg this would be a wayyy better book without the feminism 101 frame narrative - funny to read about the end of the world nowadays

The idea and premise of this book was very interesting, but the execution was lacking. All the different points of view, the 5000 years in the future without any changes, the sometimes very confusing storyline, the very simple black and white, just basically 180° inverted behaviours... I just did not warm up to any of it.

book was decent! I was interested throughout, although some of the perspectives/moment felt entirely too cliche it felt like really poor fiction

also the tone felt off a lot, but I liked when it languished in certain descriptions of moments

This is my first five-star read of the year because it's conceptually brilliant and really well executed. And I will say this: if you like books, read this book; if you like Margaret Atwood, read this book; if you like exciting stories that play with narrative and are successful at playing with narrative, read this book.

Beware that this could make you sort of sympathize with men. But then you will laugh at yourself being all sympathetic toward men, because the world that Alderman creates (or, the world that her poor, disenfranchised male author creates...) is so very much a fantasy.
