This is a thriller for the younger set. The writing wasn't spectacular but it is very appealing to readers who like thrills, suspense, & mystery. There is a bit of science thrown in as well. While it will be most appealing to boys there is a young female character as well. A good offering to those wanting more Alex Rider (who is actually mentioned in the book, that made me smile) & Young James Bond.

The book was ok. The author didn't do a good job creating the main character. He needed more character development.

Picked this up not realizing it was the second in a series. I felt that things were explained sufficiently and the story didn't suffer because of my lack of knowledge. A fun premise. Stephen "Steel" Trapp has a photographic memory. This becomes handy at his new private boarding school. He and his friend Kai notice mysterious things happening late at night and start investigating.

Not bad. It was ok for what it was. Pretty short, not a lot of world building, just a quick story. Characters were good enough, story was ok. Cute for kids.

Good book - I like the way Ridley writes about a young person in a way that doesn't belittle the way kids think, but at the same time doesn't make them sound like adults. Kids are different. We think differently from adults. As a teen/tween I'm starting to understand how the transition to adulthood changes the way we think.

And really good story besides that! All the FBI and US Marshall's getting in each others way and not being able to share info because of all the different secrets being kept. And then Steel and Kaileigh in the middle of it all. Very interesting story.

I liked this one a lot - I actually read it before I read the other Steel Trapp book (whoops!) but that didn't really screw anything up for me. No important secrets that I should have known about beforehand, so it's all good. :D And the way the story about Taddler and the story about Steel and Kaileigh works together, and the way the climax worked, and the whole thing with the secret sneaking around... AGH! It was kind of slow to start with, and I'm still not sure how important the games of ga-ga really were, but whatever. It all worked out in the end, and I still liked it. :D

Fourteen year old Steven "steel" Trapp is on a train from Chicago to DC for a science competition when he gets caught up in an espionage thriller/chase, involving spies and bad guys, a cute girl named Kailiegh, and his robotic "sniffer" dog project. Fastpaced and fun.
