I usually enjoy Jeffrey Brown, but Damian is a weird choice for a kid's comic, and I didn't think Damian's character fit into a 'make a friend' story nor did it mesh with Brown's writing style. Then again, Damian is consistently fairly mean to Jason Todd, so I've lost interest in Damian. (Yes, my Batman world revolves around Jason Todd, and if a character is mean to him, I lose interest.)
Not a great combination to keep my interest.
Amethyst interested me even less, as it didn't seem to tie into the superhero world at DC at all - and I'm in for the superheroes in DC.
