While most of us probably don't have acqaintances who have perfected the art of fading into the background like Calvin Schwa, this story of his friendship with Antsy will speak to many teenagers who feel unnoticed. The audio version, read by the author, is a delight to listen to. Give this to middle school students who like their humor offbeat, their characters quirky, and a story that leaves plenty to think about at the end.

There was a part in the beginning where the R word was used and it just didn't sit right with me. Other than that I really enjoyed the book, which isn't that surprising, the more I read Shusterman, the more I love his writing.

Ok, there were a few words, that I didn't like and a couple of things that weren't actually saying them just misheard so it sounds like something else. So there's that. But overall I think it was pretty good. I liked the writing style because I feel like that's how the voice in my head talks when I think. So I guess I think like a Brooklyn person talks. oops. anyway yeah, it's pretty light and easy reading. And it was funny (in my eyes) so if you need a laugh this could be the book for you. I think if you pick it up and want to read it go ahead, but I don't have a very strong opinion about it. so its up to you

My favorite kind of boy.
My 6th grade son picked this up from his classroom library and loved it so much he read the next two books.

We listened to this on our road trip and it kept the whole family enthralled and chuckling. However, we all felt a little let down by the rather abrupt ending.
