Mudando para 4 estrelas porque apesar de ter me traumatizado para a vida é um livro muito muito bom, mas também muito muito pesado.
Se tivesse coragem faria uma releitura daqui a alguns anos com mais maturidade.

Probably one of the most important books of our age.

This book went beyond my expectations. I was infuriated primarily with Strane, but also with Vanessa. I was frustrated with her because she didn't want to heal. She wanted to stay a teenager and stay with Strane. It was frustrating to watch her disregard her life.

That being said, I know you cannot force someone to want to heal and she was abused when she was a vulnerable teenager. I appreciate that we got to see her grow and change and want to heal.

Watching Strane manipulate and convince Vanessa that she had all the power made me want to rip my hair out. Knowing that he chose her because she was isolated, seeing the patterns he used, and realizing there was a very specific reason he got a vasectomy was just...disgusting.

The social commentary in this novel was fantastic and insightful. And while I found Vanessa infuriating at times, her portrait was realistic and difficult and, ultimately, rewarding.

Though this book was very heavy subject material, it was a fast read that left me thinking. I definitely will reread it.
