Very thought-provoking, bringing up points of view I would not have considered. All eight of the girls handled the list differently.

Okay read. I wasn't on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who wrote the list or anything. None of the many stories told were standout to me. A half decent book that entertained me for a little while. A guilty pleasure, you might say.

I have given The List by Siobhan Vivian three out of five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Trigger warning: eating disorder

I found this book on Kindle Unlimited and thought it sounded like an easy, interesting read. I was a little disappointed thinking about this book in it’s entirety, there was a lot of potential however, the ending didn’t do it for me (but we’ll touch on that a little later on into the review). On the other hand, I like the overall message that the author was trying to get across in this book; appearances aren’t always what they might seem, beauty on the outside isn’t everything.

I love a multiple perspective POV book and this one definitely did just that! We follow eight characters throughout this novel. At the beginning, it did get a little confusing as you’re learning about each one and waiting for their voice’s to become different from one another, but shortly it became easier and distinctive to tell each character apart.

I thought Siobhan Vivian did a great job at writing from eight character’s perspectives; she developed each character well and it really felt as though I was looking into the minds of each narrative. I liked the author’s writing, at times it was a little too young for me however, I thought it was written very well and quite entertaining.

From what I can remember at school, there wasn’t a “prettiest and ugliest” list (unless I’ve blocked that memory out) however, I can imagine this goes on in a lot of schools which made me feel sad inside as it’s horrible reading about the experiences from fictional characters let alone thinking human beings go through this themselves.

The ending seemed as though it was unfinished and would’ve liked details to what happened to each character instead of just focusing on a couple of them. I find that’s a big problem with books when you suddenly become connected and attached to particular characters, when their stories are essentially cut off it feels as though someone has ripped out the last few chapters of a book which left me disappointed.
