This book is one I'm going to stew over for the next few years.
I did not know it was an Arthurian retelling, but don't let a lack of knowledge on that front hinder you. We view the setting from a strange, almost letter-like perspective from Medraut, our main character. It becomes very clear, very quickly, that he has been psychologically, physically, and sexually abused. In spite of this, he still holds great love for his half-siblings, who will go on to rule the kingdom.
This book deals with a lot of sensitive topics (see warnings) but ultimately ends on a hopeful note. It is a very short read, but a very interesting one. I can't really say much more without spoiling.
