Answers so many questions!

I liked this novella even more than the one about Kiernan. It really helped me put Pru in perspective a bit more. I hated her a LOT, but I see now how she got to where she is (I finished the 2nd book just before this). I'm glad this backstory exists for Pru. It fills in missing pieces that I was curious about, and I'm glad for that. :)

Another .5 novella to help fill in the gaps.

But, I think I'm starting to feel like old Pru now. Not sure who is who or when is when...

When I first saw this was a novella from Pru's perspective I wasn't too excited about reading it. I couldn't have been more wrong. It was excellent. I loved reading about her timeline. Talk about timey-wimey! And it's no wonder she's so screwy with all those double memories she has to deal with. I definitely recommend reading this novella if you are reading the Chronos Files series, it definitely adds to the story.

Ok so I was so excited when I realized this was Pru's back story but ultimately I was disappointed by the ending so really this is a 3.5 instead of a full 4. I really wanted more of an explanation of how Prudence became the way she is in the main series and I also felt that the whole blaming Katherine for everything was not hashed out particularly well. I'm just hoping that the third book answers all of the questions I had after 2 and now have after this. It was still a compelling novella but I wanted more!

This book is the background story on the character Pru. The author did a great job of tying together different moments in time and why Pru behaved in certain ways. Interesting feature is that this book gives a little more insight into the personality of Simon. This book was a little emotional roller coaster too. I gained some compassion for Pru now that I understood how Pru was lied to and given a trapped one sided tour of the world throughout time. I also found that I also found more reasons to not Simon. This book did leave me wondering about the further development of Pru and will she succeed in her plan. Is Saul really put in checkmate with Campbell? What is Simon plan behind his motivations? Looking forward to starting book 3.

The first time I read this series, I somehow missed this novella backstory for Prudence. I don't think I missed anything then--we don't really *need* to know her backstory to understand the rest of the series (which I guess is why it's book 2.5 and not 3). Prudence is a villain--sort of--for most of the series, and this book shows that she didn't start out too terribly likable either. But she's not all bad, and she had good intentions and motives; she was just misguided. Which is true of all interesting villains, I suppose. Saul, the true villain, never gets a backstory, because I think he's just evil through and through, but that serves the plot too.

If I ever listen to this series again, I'll probably skip this one, but it still held my interest.

Very interesting to get Pru's take on things. It also helps to understand the mess she's been through and why she is so out there in the other books. Starting book 3 tomorrow and am very excited to see how all of this ends up. If you're into YA and/or time travel, check out this series. Rysa Walker does an excellent job creating a time travel world that is entertaining and relatively easy to follow.

This is a longer novella, which offers and ads to the CHRONOS-storyline from Pru's POV.
And that is also my problem with the book, while it makes me understand the very well written characters, Pru is not one of the brightest, and gets more than once lied to (ok, not her fault) and does suspect it, but still does not really think with her own mind. Maybe the situations are just to bad, but she also shows no real interest in things that could help her.
As it is, I strongly recommend to read this book for the background and the different POV, with the caveat that this is a dumb girl, too young and if you have read the other books, her mind gets muddled by too many time-jumps, and that certainly does not help liking her, wether it is her fault or not.
We get a lot of her thinking about things, and that is mostly non-tech, more romance, and very single-minded, even when she tries to correct mistakes with time-jumps, she always thinks of herself first, not seeing the bigger picture.
If she had had a normal life, it would have been a boring one, housewife, pop out 2.3 kids and raising a family - not my kind of gal nor heroine.
Currently I cannot say, how I will rate it - it is adding the whole series, and with Pru being deliberately written this way, and there being such women in the world (although I know none and would not befriend one), it is interesting.

So even though it is a novella, I took a break to start [b:The Martian|18007564|The Martian|Andy Weir|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1413706054s/18007564.jpg|21825181].
OK, that was a downer, dumbed down, overhyped Bestseller, snarky, but not really good - see my NSFW-Review here:
see my NSFW-Review. Usually I post the same review at Amazon.com, but this time they declined "obscenity", I had to revise the wording...

So, enough OT, back to this book, although I took my time reading it, that was mostly for not liking Pru (and Simon, and Saul).
But still a must-read for completing the background to some scenes and the series.
So, 5 stars it is.
And for a Novella I paid for, I think it was rather long and for once, worth the money - often I think they are too expensive and should only be given away for free, like they did back in the old days, as a teaser for the next book.

It will not really work as a standalone, you should have already read both the first and second book in the series, otherwise it will be very confusing, it is complicated enough with all the time-jumping.

HOW did I not know this was out. I better get on it before I get the next book.

Loved hearing Pru's side of things. She doesn't seem so bad. On to the final book!
