The story is told through multiple postings on a medical for medical professionals. We follow a young doctor, Parker, as he works with Joe--a patient who has been there since he was six years old. Joe has been deemed as incurable, but Parker vows to change that.

it was loving it... until I realized that the plot twist was going to be something supernatural.

Because the book is so short, it was definitely a page turner because I knew I could finish it quickly and the concept is really engaging. However, there really wasn't a twist. The end was predictable and didn't provide much surprise or relief. I did enjoy it though, not bad, not great.

Surpreendente!

Personal Score: C

Despite my low score, I relatively enjoyed reading this. Probably only because I went through it so quickly, in a few hours. But it’s undeniably weak.

I want to support this Nosleep story turned upmarket psychological thriller à la The Silent Patient, but even that comp title was terrible (and it’s way way better reviewed and more widely read than this title).

The writing is weak, poorly researched, shallow, obvious…etc. Not a well written book.

But it was fun most of the way through. Towards the end things got so convoluted, and the supernatural element (spoiled in the jacket copy) grew about as trifling as the pseudo-psychological ramblings.

So The Patient is a stinker, but I didn’t struggle through it.

This book was paced nicely. There were points where I was super creeped out, but always intrigued. I wasn’t expecting the ending, and i might even say it seemed a little out of place. It was a good story, nonetheless
