This novel sees how a family cope with the disappearance of a daughter, kidnapped while hiking in a mountain with her brother. As most chapters were interesting, I thought that some of the first ones were a little confusing. I wasn't sure if there were some flashbacks or if things were more chronological. I thought the chapters concerning the mother were not as great and maybe not developed enough, but on the other hand the novel would have been really long if it was. Overall, I really liked the book and recommend it.

This is not what I normally read, but always trying to improve my RA skills :) Also it's set in the Rockies, in towns I am familiar with, so I thought I would give it a try. It's probably unfair to rate this at all. Some of the plot twists seemed pointless, so did many of the characters. Calling Sean "the boy" throughout the book made me crazy. A lot of it was too hard to believe (the ending!). Meh.

Too slow. Too much nature description. Too much jumping  between characters.

I think I want to say 3.5. I found the story gripping, but a few pieces seemed unnecessary. Like when you want 15 minutes cut from a movie. Overall, a great read that kept me up late too many nights.
