Ravin

Gavin and Ravens story is beautiful. I loved the whole book except the last few chapters felt a little rushed. I loved Gabina proposal to Raven as well as the improve scenes.

One Night at the Improv...

Penelope Ward is an automatic one click author for me. Sebastian York and Andi Arndt are a duo thagt is also an automatic one click for me. Obviously I needed to have The Day He Came Back added to my collection but that is all irrelevant. If you have never experienced Sebastian and Andi or read a Penelope Ward book, I would beg/encourage/rant about the need for THIS book in your collection.

The Day He Came Back has a familiar theme. The rich boy and the peasant girl. It's predictable route doesn't detract from the story at all though. These characters, Raven and Gavin, are a breath of fresh air. Their story while not a new one is a fairytale worth experiencing. It's not a happy sappy plot. It's rich in real life and traumatic truths. Life doesn't always give us an HEA but fortunately, Penelope Ward does. (Even if it's years later!)

Enjoy the adventure. Explore the emotions. Smile in the absolute joy of finding and keeping the one who got away.

Penelope Ward is one of my all time favorite authors, and she is an author that I will read anything she writes. A lot of the time I don’t even read the blurbs on her books because I know I will be reading it regardless, but with The Day He Came Back, I had to read it! I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it and it was everything I’d been hoping for and more.

Raven and her mother worked for Gavin’s family, and their different stations were pointed out to them at every turn. That didn’t stop Raven and Gavin from falling in love that summer, though it did end badly, leaving them both with broken hearts. Now years later, Raven finds herself once again working for Gavin’s family, what she never expects is to come face to face with him when he returns home unexpectedly. Though years have gone by, old feelings resurface as unanswered questions from the past threaten to change everything they thought they knew.

I loved Gavin and Raven. Their differences might have seemed too much for some to get over, but they are also why they connected. They were meant for one another and had a very natural and genuine connection right from the start. They got along well and were able to talk with and get one another in ways no one else could. They chemistry was so strong and I couldn’t get enough of them.

Overall, this was a great story. I loved everything about it. It was emotional and heartfelt, and I was invested from the very beginning. It broke me and then put me back together, in the way that only Penelope Ward can do. I honestly love her books and hope she never stops writing. I highly recommend this book and think that readers are going to love this one as much as I did. I can’t wait for her next book!

Penelope is such a great writer I really don’t know what happened with this book. To me it didn’t feel real, the characters were not interesting. I think the story had potential but I feel like everything was rushed and therefore lacked depth
