David 'Bunny' Garnett is someone whose life has been described by so many authors in their books, their biographies, their autobiographies that one feels like one knows him. Many of the books filled with details about Bunny were written after homosexuality was no longer illegal and so the truth of his life is more revealed in other people's books than in his own autobiography published in 1955. A very engrossing book with no slow parts but I was always so conscious of what was not written in huge sections. He never once wrote that he loved Duncan. Even if he could not detail their love affair, he should have written the words. When the book was finished I felt that I had added a dimension to my knowledge of Bunny and his friends despite the elephant in the room that was totally ignored.
