John Davis’s Accept, Connect Heal is a beautifully simple, and incredibly powerful book. It reminds me quite a bit of what it feels like when you start working your way through A Course in Miracles, in the way that you feel like you’re taking just a little bit of wisdom with you, but then that little bit slowly unfolds in your mind over the course of the day and begins to help you unpack spiritual insights and seem to take you by surprise, but that you later realize were part of your soul all along. This is a great book for anyone who is struggling with depression or hopelessness, and it’s also a great book for anyone who feels like they are the only living idealist left. It gives hope and brings small moments of joy that have a ripple effect in your mind.

I suggest reading this book once all the way through, as quickly as you want, and then going back and reading it a second time, choosing one essay to read for each day and then using the insight in that essay to practice what it’s teaching you in real time interactions. This is also a book that makes a wonderful gift for others who are on their own healing journey or exploring a spiritual path. In fact, I think it would be an awesome book to form a study group around so that participants could practice using the insights from the book and then come together to support each other and compare notes on what is being learned.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves self-study courses, spiritual texts, contemplative essays, and needs a little encouragement to see the bright side of life.
