Wow! What a journey! K.F. Breene is one of my newest favorite authors in the fantasy-paranormal realm that I have literally dove head first into. It all started with Laurell K. Hamilton, and it has been a trip that I love.

Reagan is part- demon, part-Goddess, heir to the Underworld's throne courtesy of her father's blood running through her veins. Darius is an elder vampire, man of few words unless he is working something strategically out to help save his life along with Reagan's. Their unlikely love pairing had me laughing and crying and wanting to beat them both.

Supporting characters that feel like close friends after the end of the trilogy were necessary for the book to have cushion.

I can't wait to read what's in store for Penny and the most powerful Natural mage.

Review

Very happy to have found a new author to fall in love with.
I honestly read these out of order, in that I read Natural Witch before the Fire and Ice trilogy. That being said I LOVED finding Easter eggs all throughout Fire and Ice that hinted at what was to come! I can’t wait for more

The conclusion to this trilogy was incredibly lazy. No ends were tied and the ending overall was lackluster. We get to see Reagan develop her power more (naturally), we see her relationship with Darius progress (naturally), but we get no hard ending. While the Fire and Ice Trilogy has the same foundation as [a:Ilona Andrews|21748|Ilona Andrews|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1219436898p2/21748.jpg] series Kate Daniels, Andrews pulls it off so much better. She left us wanting more by the end of book 1 with how she kept Kate wrapped in mystery yet showed us so much of her character. Breene sloppily tried to achieve the same thing. Reagan throws her powers everywhere in the Underworld yet she has no real consequences of her actions. Naturally, demons begin to seek her out and she causes trouble
Spoilerbut no word from her father, we just get a view of him and that's all. Breene tries to defend her ending by saying because her father has been around for so long, it's not a big deal to him, but really, if he's been around so long and he's been trying to make heirs for x amount of years, wouldn't he want to chase after Reagan after getting a rumor?
. The trilogy as a whole keeps a reader entertained, but it's weak storytelling. The build up of Darius and Reagan's relationship came from nowhere. It started with attraction and immediately went to love (at least on Darius's part). We don't get enough of an explanation on why Darius can suddenly feel love again. There are too many loose ends in this "conclusion" and while I'm curious on what happens to Reagan and Darius in Penny's trilogy, I'm not so sure I'm that entertained by the series to continue on. What a reader is looking for in this trilogy, he/she can find in Kate Daniels.

Soooo I absolutely loved the other two books and the blossoming relationship between Darius and Reagan. Even the bonding seemed totally natural and in-line with the story.

BUT I am giving this book (not the series) three stars because a lot of the plot lines remain unfinished and I am highly skeptical that they will be properly concluded in the next books since D & R are now supporting characters.

First, the author spends so much time developing this story about Reagan meeting her father and then basically does not conclude it? Then, the author spends portions of the book hinting at the relationship between lucifer and R’s mom - basically making the reader believe the mom is still alive - and then does nothing with it?

Darn, I loved this trilogy but I am frankly kind of heart broken with how it ended. The author really missed the mark at the end (I get it, happens to a lot of us when we write).

Fun and entertaining book, but no real wrap up at the end. Doesn't feel like the last book of a trilogy, lots of loose threads that never got resolved.

A decent conclusion

I liked the first one, loved the second, and liked this one. I like the characters a lot, but the venture into the underworld was mundane to me. I know the author had a vivid picture of the underworld that she wanted to paint, but I just couldn’t get into it. I honestly skimmed much of that part, but the rest was good! I love that she’s not “done” with the characters yet. I am already starting the next series!
