Sol is struggling to find his life after being injured on the job; a bottle is his only friend. Ember is working to prover herself in a male-dominated field. After a chance encounter Sol and Ember are left to decide what they want from what could possibly develop between them. Burned by Fire was a quick read. The character development was good at best, but good for an easy read. It was a feel-good story but needed more depth to be great.

This was a great read! It was enthralling, emotional with a happy ending and steamy! Definitely an 18+ novel. It was quick paced and short, and very well written. I could hardly put it down. The characters were lovable and showed a lot of character and depth. This was a great read and I can't wait to read more like this in the future!

I haven’t read many of this author books but what I have read I enjoyed. This a Contemporary romance about finding love unexpectedly, with a friend to lovers’ theme, mentor/mentee relationship, between firefighters.
I enjoyed the plot and the characters where well written and the way they play off each other makes them real.

We watch Sol fight his demons when he can’t be a firefighter because of an injury. With nothing to do he finds solace in the bottle. He needs to wake up and move on because he might not have a house or friends anymore. Can ember help him face his demons or will he be forced to live alone?

Ember is a new firefighter and she is kind of lost without her mentor and long-time crush Sol. Can she help him move forward or will her job drive a wedge between them? Will Sol open up to Ember? With an eleven-year age gap between them can they be happy together?

This is the 4th book in a multi-author series set around Firehouse 13. I have read several of this author’s books so far and have always enjoyed them so was happy to read more of her work. I was also interested by the blurb so it was a no brainer for me to read this book.

I really enjoyed Ember and Sol’s story. Sol is a retired firefighter, having sustained an injury in a fire which left him unable to continue in the role. Ember is a relatively new firefighter who had had Sol as her mentor and had always had a bit of a crush on him.

As Sol slips into an alcohol fueled depression due to his enforced retirement, it’s Ember who helps him through this hard point in his life. This is a great friends to lovers romance with the added grit of seeing Sol struggle through this particularly hard time.

I did find the writing a bit disjointed (is that the right term?) and it didn’t flow as well as the other books by this author but I loved the characters and the storyline so still enjoyed the book.

Wow!! For a novella, this is a fantastic story. Second-chance romances are one of my favorites to read. The thought of people being able to find love again after a troublesome time in their life is both inspiriting and encouraging. Sol is a fireman who was forced to retire after getting injured after saving 2 children from a burning house. He had to retire from his career. He ended up retiring and is now an alcoholic that has to get therapy. Ember is his best friend and mentee. She is 11 years his junior and has a tremendous crush on him. She is working through her own baggage. Can they help each other? He is kind of gruff but she surprised me by dishing it right back. They have chemistry. I felt it in the story. You feel their emotions. I loved every bit of the story. The pain, the tenderness for each other and themselves. When Sol realizes he can help others was an aha moment and your heart felt his joy. The spice was just perfect. Ember needed someone to giver her the push when she needed that reminder she was strong enough and that was Jackie. It was a terrific story that I think many will enjoy. You have to read the story and experience every minute. I want to say it felt like reading it in Dolby surround. I felt the story around me and that just doesn't happen, if at all. Terrific story.

This is the only book in the Firehouse 13 series that I have read and all I can say is that I need to run, not walk to get the first 3 books in this series! Solomon Fox is a local hero to everyone except himself. Yes he saved 2 kids that will be able to live their life, but it cost him his career. Now what is he supposed to do? His body has healed from the burns but his mind has not. Ember is 11 years younger than Sol and is still working at the firehouse he retired from. She has held Sol in a special place for a while. He was an inspiration to her as well as her mentor in the department. She sees him struggle. Can she help him in finding where he belongs since he can no longer be a firefighter?

Drama, emotion and soul searching
This is the fourth book in the Firehouse 13 series. I have read several books by this author so I was excited to dive in and I was not disappointed. Some parts are highly emotional and the romance isn’t a bed of roses either. Sol takes some getting used to as he is so full of angst and pain. A highly charged read.

This was an emotional 5 star read. You get pulled in right from the beginning. Sol is dealing with the fact that he can’t be a firefighter anymore. He attempts to go to a counselor but that doesn’t go very well. He’s a hero to others but not to himself. He tries to hide his injury when he can.
Sol has been Ember’s mentor and she is determined to show him how important he is.  Ember was great for Sol, she helps him heal. I really loved these two. Ember was a determined woman and refused to give up on Sol. We get so much in the read. The author does a great job with her writing and you will be done before you know it. All of the characters were great. This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone.  If you're looking for an age-gap romance that pulls you in, 1-click and get started today on this one.

Burned by Fire (Firehouse 13 Book 4) by Danielle Jacks. I really enjoyed this book. Its the story of  Sol who is a retired Firefighter who is feeling like he he has lost his purpose after a accident and has pretty much become an alcoholic to numb the pain. Ember who is a new fire department recruit wants Sol to get help but knows that Sol has to want to be helped first. Sol is so very bitter about everything that happened but Ember really wants to help him. As they spend more and more time together Ember finally gets Sol to talk about what happens. Ember is so passionate about her job but she is finding out that she is just as passionate about Sol. Will they be able to work past Sol's demons and have a meaningful relationship or will Sol self destruct. Read Burned by Fire to find out!

Firehouse 13 is a 12-part series with each book written by one of 12 amazing authors. Set in a small town called Armstrong and centred around the firehouse sparks fly and temperatures burn in more than one way.

Danielle’s Burned by Fire is the fourth book in the series. It is one story where things are highly emotional and full of drama, angst, pain, stubbornness, and sacrifice. There is hard earned romance and it kept the pages turning but it was over too soon.

Sol is a bitter, bitter man and can't see where is place in the world is anymore. He has lost the one thing he loves. Now he is looking for answers in the bottom of a bottle but could one beautiful woman change things?

Ember maybe doing what she loves but now something or someone is missing. Could the one thing she wants now be a reality?

I look forward to reading more of this series.
