Capturing Cara by S.E. Smith

Capturing Cara definitely continued the insta-everything train of things in this series. At least Cara and Trelon brought the humor. Well, mainly Cara because she was kind of a bad ass in the beginning. A bit underestimated but definitely proved to be one annoying and stubborn girl for her mate.

Just like before, there's lots of smut and mating. Yet, there's hints of danger lurking in the corners. It does seem like one of the girls are in danger.. if not all. Other than that, I did enjoy how the girls were all 'yay girl power' and looked out for one another.

If I could anything, which for these books might be a lot, it would be the repetition. I get it, some things need to repeat when you are telling each person's story.. but ugh, I just didn't need it all the time.

Brilliant, I adore Cara and actually cried with laughter reading this book. So, so funny and interesting. I also love Symba, I want one! :P
I can't wait to see what other kick-ass girl characters are in the other books, especially looking forwards to Carmens story. :')

Again, good concept but I just think it was poorly executed. I hated Cara, and I hated that she described herself as ‘a little ADHD’. If she wasn’t shown as a complete menace with no regard for anyone else in the world I wouldn’t have had a problem, but she was always blaming everyone else for being mad because she wanted to do whatever she wanted. She fiddled with electronics she legit had no clue about, because she wanted to, and when she completely fucked them up and destroyed rooms, she was all ‘it’s not my fault I was trying to do this, how did I know that would happen’

Example: “Why does the guy think every time an alarm goes off it is her fault?! Cara thought with resentment. It wasn’t like her setting the training simulator to music would make the alarms go off. Okay, well maybe she had programmed a little too much fog but how was she to know the computer would see it as smoke and start the fire evacuation program. And, yes, she did accidently start a mini-flood in the docking bay but she had only meant to create a light shower and it was supposed to have been programmed for the cleansing rooms off the training center which was exactly one floor above where it actually developed. And, how was she supposed to know certain frequencies when combined with the crystals acted like a stiff drink for a symbiosis? Now, he was blaming her for their communications being overloaded with requests for the videos she had uploaded.”

Not only did she enter someone’s room and she knew it was occupied, she went through his stuff and pulled things apart to ‘improve’ them and hacked the ships system (while they were moving, not just parked in a dock which to me is the height of stupidity, what if the whole thing breaks and you all die in space lol) and did all this crap the SECOND she boards the ship. And when they lock her up for hacking into the ships defence system (again, how was she to know, when she asked what it was no one would tell her so she snuck around and fiddled with it anyway) she’s PISSED, and breaks the lock to get out, destroying more of their shit.

Honestly I would have probably thrown her into space by now. But they don’t. And the hero finds it kinda cute. Which her interest would be great, IF SHE WASNT DESTROYING OTHER PEOPLES SHIT.

Then they land at home and she continues to do whatever she wants, just because. Hmm, alien planet with different laws and customs but she doesn’t care she still sneaks out when he’s sleeping, because she can.

It wasn’t all bad, but these two definitely got on my nerves. So did the fact she had claustrophobia, but willingly, and quickly locked herself in a broom cupboard that was a tiny space. The small space she entered before that made her freak out so much she basically went into a coma & this wasn’t that much later so I found it silly.

The bad chick was obvious, but I hated her and all the scenes involving her in the end.

Lastly, the big strong dragon warrior hero ’giggled’. And I’m still not over it.

Decided I’m done with this series even if I do like the concept.

I really liked Cara because she is such a strong and smart heroine. She doesn't take any shit but still has a great sense of humor.

Spunky heroine. These ladies are very go with the flow. I like the bit of overlap with the new point of view. Steamy scale 3 of 5 (Audible)

This was a continuation from the first book. Cara who is a genius engineer who is a friend of Abby falls for Zoran's brother Trelon. Trelon has his hands busy with trying to keep Cara out of trouble she wants to update things and finds herself in trouble. Cara does get herself in trouble in the story and Trelon wants to protect her even more. I think for this story I am ok with Trelon being over protective because Cara just seems to walk into trouble at every turn. I like the series and will continue it. If you like stories like this I recommend this series. The sex scenes where a little tamer in this book.
