I need more!

I didn't want to put the book down. Purity is strong and the love she shows for Mel and the love he shows her. I can't wait till the next book. Everyone should read the first book and this book. You will not regret it.

Rooting for Satan!

I don't want to say much about this book. But believe me when I say you will be rooting for Satan. And that is not a bad thing. He has a job to do and you better hope he is able to do it. This is an action packed series with a plus size heroine. Something we can all believe in.

I went into this expecting an easy but forgettable read. What I got was a thoroughly enjoyable little book with very relatable characters, an original premise, and a glimpse at a solidly built world which I hope will be expanded on in later books.
Thank you, Kim Faulks. I really enjoyed reading this!

This is the first novel in the Melkor & Purity series by Kim Faulks, which is a sort of paranormal fantasy about a girl and her hellhound growing up and falling in love. The story has a satisfactory conclusion, but it’s clearly just the introduction to this couple’s misadventures.

The beginning of the story was cute. Purity is not the kind of character I’d ever want to be friends with, but reading about her mischievous pranks and the foolish, impulsive things she does to get herself in trouble was entertaining. She is, as Satan himself describes her, a hell-raiser. Melkor tends to be much more earnest; I would have found him more interesting if his character has a little more subtlety.

I liked the idea of a story about hellhounds more than I liked the execution. The worldbuilding is a little thin, and characters’ actions don’t always make much sense. You’ll need to suspend disbelief and just roll with the events of this story in order to really enjoy it. I am sufficiently intrigued with the setup at the end of this story to be curious about reading the next book in the series.

The narration was provided by HotGhost Productions. The narrator’s performance was well paced and easy to understand, and I enjoyed the character voices. I think the narration adds a lot of enjoyment to this story, so I definitely recommend the audiobook.

I was given a free copy of this audiobook by the author and volunteered to provide an honest review.
